I wish this was longer, just so the whole story could have been built and developed and breathed more, but still, this was really just kind of lovely? is really the only word for it. I also just really like explorations of Chosen Ones who are not one-dimensional—I think, otherwise, it really falls flat for me, and it was very thoughtfully done here.

This started out as Regency in space. That turned into wuxia cdrama (Lángyá Bǎng, to be specific). That ended with
Carl Sagan's Contact
feels. And it was all wrapped up in Sherry Thomas's beautiful prose.

I wish I never read this just so I could experience the magic for the first time again. Goooooodddddddddd this was Soooo good. I have no words. Go into this blind. DO NOT READ THE SYNOPSIS FOR THE NEXT BOOK. DO NOT READ ANY SPOILERS. GO IN BLIND!

Sherry Thomas, ily. You have yet to let me down. Everything you write is fucking gold.
