Such a sweet love story! Would've gave it 5 stars, but it was a little predictable...

Again another book where consent seems a loose concept. Few times where one character clearly stated he didn't want anything to continue but the second continued to push.

It felt a bit like the start of an abusive relationship with the continuing forcefulness of the "hero". Let me pay for everything, let me buy the thing for you, let me be in control of finances. I was very much on Harper's side about the independence necessary in his life.

I would have run a mile from someone hitting me with their car then insisting they spend all their time living with me, sharing my bed, and taking care of me. On reflection it shouldn't have been Harper's behaviour the Senator should have been wary of, but his own son's.

Ugh too cute

Loved the story, the characters are cute and it was a nice Saturday afternoon read!! I would recommend this book!

  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated

Kinda cute, but.
These american characters have a weird relationship with money. Why would someone who had been RUN OVER by a wealthy person refuse anything but the very basic monetary compensation, he didn't event want the money for his lost wages despite desperately needing it
it's almost fetishistic and completely illogical

also, why would you care so much to keep a job as a BIKE COURIER

also, the bike courier guy had some sort of traumatic family background that felt simultaneously overdone and underdeveloped, in the 2010' "trauma is hot" way
(and don't get me wrong, I love the "fun trauma worlds" such as the foxhole court series but here it felt out of place as it wasn't high action at all)

A sweet romance, with little angst and drama. Harper and Fox are a good example of opposites attracts and I like them.

I mostly didn't believe Sam's father redemption, though. Mostly because, again, he doesn't act because he is aware that his actions were wrong but because they had caused him troubles with his family.

The narration was nice, although a would have liked a little more of difference in the voices of the characters.

All in all, entertaining and fun :)

DNF @11%.

Mediocre writing and alternating POVs that have no distinct voice. And I'm already sick of Sam saying his daddy will pay for it.

I wanted to like this, but the rather clunky writing style was getting to me, and then presumption from the MC with the most power killed my interest. DNF at 43% I find it hard to believe this won an award. It reads a bit like a first novel, though the author'd been published awhile by the time it came out. Anyway, it wore on me, and then that thing that probably felt like a threat just slammed the door on my interest.
