I'm not sure how far I got into the book, over half, maybe 100-some pages left. I found it disorienting, and I got lots and confused and constantly felt like I had missed something. The idea of the story is great, but the reading was not as great. The friend who recommended Sign Here told me how it all ends, and I'm disappointed by the ending. The short chapters jumping back and forth between different characters' perspectives was not fun, gave me whiplash. Or rather, just made me confused as I couldn't stay invested in any particular story because it moved too fast.
In the end, it's a bunch of the most beautiful of rich people living in Rich State, USA living between their two houses and making problems for themselves.
And I really didn't need the paedophilia.

I really liked Mickey, and would have had a strong reaction to her being killed by Ruth, but the plot of her dad being Gavin and the murder-plan sounded weak. I'm glad to have stopped reading it as Cal's story sounded like it ended in a fart. And the biggest disappointment was that Peyote was not Phillip!!! Ugh, big mislead, especially with all the talk about how time doesn't work in Hell, and Pey's last name being Harrison... I don't understand. But I didn't finish it, so there ya go.

There were some great lines here and there:
When describing Jägermeister "Lord Licorice nutting all over a Christmas tree." (ch 4).
"Hints of dinnertime and sunscreen and Lemon Pledge, the things well-loved kids complain about." (ch 15).

2/5.

I enjoyed the themes of family, the perception of trauma, and sexism. The back and forth of the storylines kept me on the edge of my seat. And at the end of the day, I love a book that relishes the complexity of humanity.

If you like putting together the puzzle pieces, this is the book for you! I thought the ending was a bit rushing and lacking the narration of the rest of the book, but a satisfying end nonetheless.
