Enjoyed this mystery which involved his family more. Two unfortunate events actually are related in a more complex historical mystery
This is another great episode in this series and I continue to be entertained by the mysteries and unfortunate events that the author provides.
Almost gave it a five. Another great installment in a superb series- Cork O'Connor!
Not a fan of how much the mystic visions are being integrated as major plot points. I just want a normal mystery like Cork used to solve.
A fantastic, engaging mystery
This book hooks you and keeps you reading with a very real story line and unexpected plot turns. I love how the author helps to educate the reader on the native language and culture.

First of WKK’s books I’ve read and likely the last. I enjoyed the Minnesota details and bits of Ojibwe lore but he needs an editor to cut out unnecessary, confusing, and trite verbiage.
Why say, “…eating a pancake slathered with blueberry preserves, using his fingers instead of a fork?” Yes, we know that people in the US usually use forks. No need to mention it.
Why describe a guy’s face as “implacable as a bulldozer blade?” That gives me no mental image, and I don’t know anyone who has tried to placate a bulldozer blade.
I could give many more examples but I don’t want to waste your time the way this author wasted mine.
NOTE: There is also a terrible act of animal cruelty.
