This may have taken me a little while to read but that isn't a negative sign, I just like looking at the pictures a lot. Not for that easily offended or squeamish this book is vile, violent and vulgar and its fucking incredible because of it! A morbidly obese pope, a sex party were anything (really anything) goes, God himself and his, shall we say, mentally challenged descendant all make an appearance.
If this sounds like your sort of thing pick it up, you'll probably regret it.

Char summed it up quite nicely in her review. I'm not going to really go into much more. Yes, we get some great back story. You want it on Cassidy? It's here. Jesse's dad? That's here as well. How about a 500lb his holiness with a son that's more than a little off? Yep, that's included as well. Finally, the Jesus de Sade. A demented fuck so twisted and depraved, that his sex parties make Caligula's orgies look like an episode of Barney. There is absolutely zero chance that this is getting ok'd for a few episodes on AMC. Hell, It might be edited heavily on Cinemax or Showtime. That's fine, I still have the hardcover reads to get me through.
This series really does push the boundaries at times. The mass amount of sex, blood, cursing can be a little much. However, it always remains so damn entertaining. Maybe it's cause I love the main cast, but damn, this crazy fucked up book is as wacky as the last and just as entertaining if not more so. We get a deeper look into the church system, and just how fucked up they really are, and this makes me excited to see more of God after this book!
A little less tight than book one, but definitely still leaves me wanting more.
We meet God, we meet Grandma. Neither is too pleasant.
Most impressive! The first story arc is brutal, but very well done, while the second does a better job than the first arc of the first volume in pulling disparate threads together and suggesting the scope for the master narrative. Looking forward to volume 3 ...
