Blutige Handabdrücke auf einem Pier, die Leiche fortgerissen von den eiskalten Fluten des Hudson River. Der Täter hinterläßt an den Tatorten kleine laut tickende Standuhren - die unverwechselbare Visitenkarte des "Uhrmachers".
Bei der Jagd erhalten sie Unterstützung von einer neuen Kollegin, Kathryn Dance eine Kinesikspezialistin....
Der gesetzte Uhrmacher ist der siebte Teil um Lincoln Rhyme und Amelia Sachs, und in dem Kathryn Dance eingeführt wurde, die als Protagonistin mittlerweile in einer eigenen Reihe ermitteln darf.
Wie in den vorherigen Teilen steht die Spurenermittlung und deren Analyse im Vordergrund, aber durch Kathryn Dance wird den Verhören diesmal mehr Raum eingeräumt, was eine gelungene Abwechslung für mich darstellte.
Aber die Story die so spannend beginnt entwickelt sich für mich zu einem zähen Lesevergnügen. Ständig wird in die falsche Richtung ermittelt und eine Wendung jagt die nächste. Dabei werden die Wendungen für mich immer konstruierter und abstruser. Für mich hätte das was "von immer noch ein oben drauf setzen wollen". Dies hat meiner Meinung der Geschichte nicht gut getan, manchmal ist weniger echt mehr.
Auch die Protagonisten wirkten diesmal auch sehr klischeehaft. Lincoln Rhyme, der nach außen hin kalte Analytiker, Amelia Sachs, die auf einmal Muttergefühle bekommt, dann haben wir noch den mürrisch auftretenden Polizisten, der sich in einen Fall verheißt, und den stets bemühten Neuling, dem kleine Patzer passieren.
Schade, dieser Teil ist für mich bisher der schwächste Teil, dabei fing es doch so spannend an.
Mein Fazit:
Ein Krimi der Potential gehabt hätte, der durch die Wendungen und klischeehaften Protagonisten viel an Spannung verspielt hat. Als Rhyme-Sachs - an wohl ein muss, für alle anderen Leser empfehle ich eine der vielen anderen Teile der Reihe.

It would seem, Lincoln Rhyme has finally met his match. Filled with very unexpected twists, you won't feel bored at all at the pace.
Am a big thriller fan. And when thriller comes to mind @officialjefferydeaver is among my favorite authors.
The book Cold Moon is a gripping story over story. A Lincoln rhyme book its full of investigations overlap and climax after climax. There are so many layers in this story that it always keeps you on the edge. You will be shocked at every page and after every climax. The way each character is explained and portrayed is fantastic.

This is probably my favourite book of the year. It was brilliant.
I really enjoyed the different POVs. You get to be inside the mind of the Killers, the detectives and the victims. I think this is what keeps you in such suspense as you know what is going to happen to the victim because of the Killers POV but then you switch to the victims final thoughts.
There are so many plot twists that I wasn't expecting in the slightest, I really was left with my jaw wide open at some of the things I never saw coming.
I can't recommend this book enough. I will say, it did take me a minute to figure out who everyone was, as you do get bombed with names at the very beginning but I felt with getting everyone's POV you soon get the grip of each person.

Book 7 was a lot more fast paced than book 6, so definite plus there. I loved the plot of this one, and as always, it was super twisty but I never anticipated what the twist was exactly.

Another very good book by Deaver. This book takes many twists and turns with good action and anticipation throughout. Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs form an intelligent duo in this series.
Not the greatest Lincoln Rhyme, but I do like meeting his match with the villain the Watchmaker, and I think the villain is cleverly written in this novel. There are also all the twists and turns you can shake a stick at, which do not disappoint.
What a mess. The plot is convoluted, improbable, and impossible to believe. Too many moving parts and way too long of a novel.
