My favorite TF book for sure. Frank is such a deeply complex character and his entire story is the theme of breaking generational trauma that is deeply embedded in people. He was witty, funny, and felt like a real person to me. I could understand the actions he took even if I didn't agree with them because he had so much depth. What a fantastic storyteller.
My only issue with French's books is the chapters are too long. I wish they were a bit more broken up so it allowed space to think and process what you're reading.

Faithful Place is the second novel of French's that I've read and I thought it was better than In the Woods, but like many other reviewers have mentioned, I picked out the killer early on in the novel, which made for less of a mystery. French has a knack for creating protagonists that I can love and hate at the same time. She's a good storyteller, but I agree with the previously stated sentiments that her books often stray from the typical mystery genre.

Tana French's mysteries are perfect for me bc I don't love thrillers/mysteries that make me anxious. With her stories, there's a comfortable curiosity about what's going to happen and characters/settings with so much depth they feel real.
