For me, I gave this book an overall  3 stars review. I accidentally purchased this book, and was overall happy with the purchase after reading. My personal style is not usually romance,  and for me, probably why the writing style is so low for my grade, but with the steamier scenes,  it made it bearable.

I will admit, at one point this book did have me in tears, so it is a heart string puller. I'd relate the plot to P.S. I Love You,  with sexier scenes.

The writing style was not my particular writing style, because I felt like the font made the book seem longer than it was, at 400 pages. However, I was able to read this in only about 5 hours. So, I found myself wishing that the font had been smaller, allowing for more storyline, in the same amount of pages. As well as there were several grammatical errors the editing team missed, which unfortunately for me, makes me stop and analyze,  versus staying engaged (ADHD brain).

The characters were well developed, I just needed more of Adrian, I think. Overall, it was entertaining and I'd recommend to anyone looking for a quick romance read with a little bit of steaminess.

Author did a good job of wrapping up all loose ends.

I’m left speechless at how beautifully tragic this book was. Go into it blindly, that’s the best way to feel every word and emotion tucked within it. I’ll definitely come back to it someday.

Absolutely recommend it to everyone, keep a box of tissues within reach♥️

heartbreaking & healing. from the moment I picked up this book it stirred emotions in me. I fell in love with the characters and the writing was absolutely beautiful. grief is such a complex thing but was well discussed in this book, and healed pieces of me that I didn’t even realize were still broken. I’m so glad I picked it up and read it in its entirety and I’m sure I will find myself reading it again.

Second Chances

I had a hard time reading this book. I cried a lot. Nadia loses her AMAZING husband, Adrian. He's like the champion of all husbands: loving, hard working, funny, supportive, sexy, wealthy, adoring, amazing, wonderful...absolute book husband material. I fell in love with the dude. And then he dies.

The grief is what killed me.

Nadia loses her biscuits. All of them. And, I felt like I went along with her for the ride.

I read this book and thought about my dad. After my mom died, he was a shell of a man...and he's still struggling somewhat. He has a lot of cats now, though.

But, this book is better than real life, because Nadia gets to live in a cool cabin down by a lake and has a nice neighbour making her coffee every morning. Will she learn to live again? Or maybe to just breathe? Certainly she learns to drink this coffee and that's a good start...

I loved this book. The feelings of loss are raw. I imagine Adrian going through the loss of his own life and desperately wanting to make things better for his wife after he's gone. Can you imagine how devastating that would be? Ugh...I'm getting emotional again just thinking about it. There's so much to unpack here. I think if you're looking for a book that might help you see how it's possible to live again after suffering loss, this book might be a good book for you.

Grief. It is hard. It is messy. It is all consuming and at times debilitating. When you grieve the loss of a partner, a lover, a friend, and a husband it is near impossible to see a light at the end of the narrowing tunnel that is the rest of your life. I would know. What I also know is that it is possible to move forward. To get up every day and continue on. This book brought me back to that. It made me relive my own grief and my own journey to the other side of it. There were tears.. so many tears but, there were also smiles. Moments where my heart felt just slightly lighter than it did so many years ago. Almost like it was giving me the permission I never felt I received or even thought I needed.
I read a lot of dark stories most of the time but for some reason I took a chance on this knowing that it would not be what I normally pick up and dive into yet also not knowing what I would get out of it. Feeling completely refreshed and cleansed in a way that I was not expecting after seeing those two words "The End."
I'll admit I've never had a book spark something within me like this one did and I am loving it. So thank you to the author for that.
If you've come across this review first then do not read the synopsis.. just go in blind and soak all of the words in for what they are. Truth. Beauty. Pain. Sorrow. Joy... Love.

Highly recommend

This book is about life, love, pain, sorrow, healing, forgiveness, and living life even when it hurts. About realizing what’s important in life. Sometimes life doesn’t always happen as we expect and it hurts but that’s ok because there is love and joy. I loved the message and meaning. I loved the characters and their story. I also loved the music thrown in. A definite must read!!

The Cabin is a heartbreaking and devastating story of loss, but it’s also a beautiful, emotional story of healing, hope and a second chance at love. I loved this story and I loved the emotions it invoked. The story telling was captivatingly beautiful and heartfelt.

I loved the concept of this story, the writing, the characters and the outcome. I really enjoyed reading it and it was very hard to put down. It's an incredibly moving and beautiful story with all the feels, and written with so much heart. I simply adored it.

A beautiful story that will make you cry at least a little bit. I love all of the characters, and I love that they’re a little older than most characters in romance novels. It’s easier to believe in their maturity and emotional intelligence because of their age and experience. Spelling and grammatical errors took me out of the moment a few times, but overall it’s a great read.
