I spent the first third of ATMOSPHERE not entirely convinced this deserved all the hype. By the end, I fully understood. This is a slow-burn with emotional depth, rich character development, and a tender sapphic love story at its heart. I am a sucker for the found family aspect which helped drive the final punch at the end. I don’t have a whole lot to add to the crazy amount of reviews on this one so I’ll just say this was a memorable and moving read that left an impact I wasn’t expecting. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo still reigns as my favorite TJR novel but this is a close second. Also, I’m sorry for anyone that has a Barbara in their life. Woof, she sucked.

4.5! I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this because I LOVED Evelyn Hugo but HATED Malibu rising. So pleasantly surprised! Seeing different perspectives of women navigating male dominated fields was so interesting and of course the love story was beautiful.

4.5 stars! TJR is a great author when it comes to blending genres. I enjoyed the historical fiction, romance, thriller, and literary fiction aspects all throughout this book. It was emotional impactful in multiple ways. The characters were all people you grow to love or at least understand in their own way. Another hit from TJR!
