Good pallet cleanser, like any thriller. Quick read, which I needed after getting through a long series (I’m looking at you 800+ page crescent city book 👀)

I went in blind so I had no idea what to expect. I would strongly suggest looking at the trigger warnings.
Overall, I gave it 3 ⭐️ for being a quick, page turner and most of the story being captivating. But lost me at the end.

I didn’t know there would be pedophilia. So, beware. I feel like the ending was so rushed. The girls finally tell the police about Nate but then he’s buried alive and the police just drop the case… I felt like I didn’t get to see justice served. Like, I get they said there’s nothing more terrifying to him than death, but I’m supposed to believe all those girls finally come forward and they are ok that he just disappeared? And then the twist at the end that Eve was doing the same thing to Hudson AKA “Jay” just didn’t sit well for me.

Another fast paced whirlwind by Freida that I was unable to put down. I always find myself binging her books within a 24 hour time frame. This was no exception. I moved from kindle to audiobook so I could finish it within the day. As per Freida’s style, I was thrown in a few different directions before settling on simply buckling down and going along for the ride. 👠

Twisty thriller. That one at the end really hit me from out of nowhere. This was my first by this author and I'll probably read more.

This author gets lauded for her twists, but this book ending unraveled the entire story completely. Incredibly inconsistent characterizations, and completely implausible beats to the climax of the story. All of that was AFTER I nearly DNFed rather than read the Groomer’s Handbook/How to Be a Predator 101. The fact that I gave it ANY rating is because I did in fact finish reading it.

This was incredible. As always, the plot twists had me shocked and I didn’t know who to trust! I loved that it was divided into three parts and that we got multiple POVs!

I find this topic deplorable. It made me want to vomit every step of the way. The only thing I didn’t see coming was the first plot point with Addie’s dad, Addie, and Hudson. I saw everything else coming. I don’t know why this topic is even written in as a story. It’s quite disgusting that a 40 yo will think that way honestly about high school students. I called the relationship between eve and Nate from the beginning with how her relationship is with her parents.

Not a huge fan of the relationships in this book, not a typical theme explored by Frieda so I wasn’t entirely prepared for it.
Noticed a few writing patterns from her other books. Typically Frieda’s twists shock me but this book was fairly predictable, the only thing I didn’t see coming was
Jay’s true identity
.
