3.5 really. the beginning and especially the end 30% were FANTASTIC but the middle is such a slog. fitz is honestly terrible to molly and their relationship has such low stakes compared to everything else happening in this book that i don’t understand why it takes up so much time, especially when molly is such a flat character compared to who she was in the first book. obviously we’ll see her and the baby again so i hope she has more dimension and a new boyfriend then. also these characters make such baffling decisions constantly. it got on my nerves at times.

Fantasic book, robin hobb writes unbelievably realistic characters, they truly feel like they are alive, making the same choices and mistakes as us. The story can be infuriating but that is part of the magic of it in my opinion
