I really wish books would indicate on them somewhere if they're middle grade vs YA, because this is the second time I've bought a book by an author I love only to discover pretty quickly that it's a middle grade book, and be sorely disappointed/annoyed.

This book was fun, and overall I enjoyed it, but it's definitely a kid's book, and I am not the intended audience. I don't think I'll read the sequel, though I did like the characters in this one.

This is luke no fantasy book I've ever read. I love the thread of colonial history. Coming from a part of New England with similar history, it was a great to see our corner of the world represented in such a great book.
Being me the sequel!

Prosper's family has a huge skeleton in his ancestry's closet: the wealth and privilege and power has had over the centuries stem from a deal between Puritan Honor Redding and a demon. An attempt to break the contract merely resulted in a promise that one day, the demon would rise in the body of a future posterity and Prosper is the lucky guy. Noticing a trend of demons in people theme. Recommended for middle grades and junior high readers, and fans of the Iron Trial series.

The dreadful Tale of Prosper Reading was a cover purchase and I spent those last three days regretting it... The first third was extremely slow-paced and boring but I hung to it for the character of Alastor. The second third was like a shiny ray clearing my boredness and I was almost entertained until the last part made my realize there was clearly not enough pages to properly end the story... 2.5/5

I rarely ever pick up middle grade books unless they’re written by Rick Riordan. I almost didn’t even give this one a chance but come on demons!

I liked that Prosperity was a straight D student. It always makes me feel like the worst student ever when I see book characters been smart af all the time. I thought it was fitting that he knew greek mythology so well since Percy Jackson is one of my favorite middle grade books.

You guys know how much I love Hopper from Bloodlines, right? I think Toad became my second favorite magical creature. A kitten with bat wings? How cute is that.

I didn’t really like Prue in most of the book. I felt like she didn’t really care for her brother after she got better. She laughed at her brother instead of standing up to him. I just felt bad for Prosper just wanting to be accepted.

All in all I loved this book and I didn’t see that ending coming! I can’t wait to read book two and to see where Bracken takes this world to.

This was really good! I love Al. He’s such a little butt. But I adore him. Lol And Prosper is a dear. My heart goes out to the poor boy. Over all the story was good and I honestly enjoyed myself. I can’t wait to see what happens next after that freaking ending!
