This book was beautifully written, and was done in such a way that what was essentially extensive background stories of a large cast of characters came across as a cohesive story that was easy to read. I do see potential for further cohesiveness and links between characters, and more development of the story, but I did equally appreciate the way it was done. The only reason for not giving the book five stars was a lot of name dropping for arguably too many characters (narrowing down the number of protagonists and/or providing a list of characters and their connections to each other would have been very useful) and not enough capitals and quotation marks for my tastes. I would read a sequel if there was one though!
