This book totally surprised me—in the best way! I went in expecting a fun, flirty office romance, but Vi Keeland brought the heat and the feels.
What I Loved:
- Ireland is a QUEEN. She’s bold, sassy, and not afraid to stand up for herself. Her drunken email to Grant after being unjustly fired had me cracking up, and her resilience made me root for her.
- Grant is the perfect mix of swoony and scarred. Sure, he’s the powerful CEO with a grumpy edge, but his heartbreaking backstory adds so much depth. Watching him open up to Ireland made me melt.
- The chemistry is off the charts. From flirty emails to steamy encounters, Grant and Ireland’s connection sizzles. Their relationship feels genuine, with banter and emotional moments balancing the heat.
- The emotional twist. This isn’t just a rom-com—it gets deep. Grant’s journey through his past and the way Ireland helps him heal add so much heart.
Favorite Moments:
- Ireland’s epic clapback email to Grant—girl has guts!
- Grant’s sweet relationship with his grandfather.

Inappropriate is about a woman who is terminated from her job, for an unsuitable video that went viral, and she emails the CEO and tells him exactly what she thinks of his policies. Well, that's the short version and it already had me wanting more. I think its funny when alcohol plays a part in the thoughts when sending these emails and lucky for Ireland, her boss's boss's boss thought it was slightly funny too. There is a little back and forth with the telecommunications in the beginning but mostly this story is about the relationship between these two and how they navigate through the issues they both bring to the party.
Grant Lexington is not your typical CEO. He’s not only comfortable in the boardroom, he also likes to be on committees as well as being handy with the tools. You could say he was juggling a few balls! Most of us have baggage when starting a new relationship, but Grant's truly was full and sad. What he sees in Ireland though is a chance, a change of something new and exciting and also a little scary. Probably because his feelings for her are instant. Ireland is a little more reserved in her actions towards the 'playboy' but as they spend more and more time together, she sees only the best in him.
I adored Grant, I genuinely did. He was smart and attentive and knew exactly what he wanted. What I loved the most was that he was human, and he had deep emotions that effected how these two could come together. And when he stuffs up, he makes up even better. Ireland was the perfect choice to help Grant handle being in a relationship again. She had patience and understanding that some women wouldn't. She was his equal on all parts that mattered. If you are looking for a romance with a decent amount of wit to angst, and a satisfying epilogue then look no further, you have found your next book to read right here.

*audibook read*
I don’t think this book is marketed correctly at all. The cover makes it look like workplace/boss romance, but it’s really not (it doesn’t have the characteristics and plot devices you’d expect in that trope)- if anything its a mix of rom-com and tragic past which is kinda weird.
I honestly was not expecting the plot to go where it did. I thought I was getting myself into a romantic comedy and while there is a lot of humor this story is also super emotional. The hero has an unfathomable tragic past that is detailed in flashbacks throughout the book. I loved the direction of the story and thank god for an HEA because I was on the verge of tears for 50% of this books.
The characters themselves were pretty ‘cookie-cutter’ from this authors other works.

Mmm... what a weird book. I'm not a fan of tragic backstories and protagonists with massive issues, nor do I enjoy flashbacks to darker times that could have been built into the story instead.
At first it seemed like a very different kind of book and I stayed because Ireland was kicking ass and CEOs in romance novels, when well written, are a yes for me and the little sex they had was hot, but then halfway I could see this was turning out to be not my kind of book at all.
I guess I liked it better than others since I actually stuck to it until the very end and that's because the premise is solid and it's been a while since I've read a book with a hot CEO and a sassy counterpart but it all went so wrong it stopped being fun :(
