After the deliciousness of the Hades-Meg-Hercules triumvirate, I was so ready to dive into the Hook-Tink enemies to lovers equation. Especially since Hook seemed like a surprisingly swoon-inducing villain. And he was indeed. But their equation didn’t have the explosiveness of enemies turning to lovers you’d expect for just this reason. Because Hook was too far gone and too charming to be really at odds with Tink, even though she was all fire and belligerence.
The thing with Roberts’ villains is, they aren’t really as big bad as they seem to think. And while I agree it’s a difficult line to walk at the best of times, they could use more of an aura of danger. In other words, they are sometimes too good at heart. Or my villain meter is totally broken. This is totally a me problem though.
What does work perfectly is the denizens of the Underworld and their various kinky shenanigans, in mind-blowingly kinky combinations too. To call it hot would be an understatement, and it just gets more scorching with each book. This book also made me desperately want Beast’s book, because him and Gaeton and Isabelle are sure to set fire to my kindle with all the hate barely disguising their connection to each other.

Love the Wicked Villians universe and it was great to see Tink finally get her story and redemption! The spice was great as always with this series, but the plot did drag a bit in the middle. Not my favorite, but a solid addition to the series.
