This is the first book I have read by Amber Kelly and I am in love. The writing was amazing. The plot line was great. The dialogue was natural and witty. The way the friendships were developed in this book was great. Braxton was definitely book boyfriend worthy. Sophie was just the right amount of mature and full of emotional responses. I just wanted to curl up and live in this book. The fictional world that Kelly created amazing and I can’t wait to continue this series

SMITTEN.

That’s how the first book in this series made me feel. It’s totally Hallmark + some steam and I am here for seeing how the rest of these characters love stories play out.

I easily read this in a day and I love when shorter books feel like the perfect length. I got the answers I wanted, the cuteness I needed and I only wish the ending was a bit longer to get more of Sophie and Braxton.

Braxton and Sophie were definitely an enemies to lovers saga (which is probably the number one reason I enjoyed this). They clashed immediately, but the obvious fire was there too. I liked how each one had some misconstrued ideas about the other, but after listening to the facts and learning more about each other they both had changes of heart. Sophie and Braxton seeked to figure out each other and how they could fit into each other’s lives.

Side story that I looooooved was that Sophie was a jewelry designer!! I just thought that was really unique from the romances I’ve read and adored how it fit into her personality and her life at large.

Dude wow, did I really loathe Sophie’s Mother. Finding out what really happened made honestly angry that a parent would put their child in that situation (and lie about it). I didn’t see redemption there, but I guess at least Sophie worked it out.

The steam was a bit much more my preference, but it can be easily skipped and the story at large is lovely and engaging. I’m so glad Dallas’s story is next!!

Overall audience notes:

  • Contemporary romance
  • Language: strong
  • Romance: kisses to open door scenes
  • Trigger/Content Warnings: infidelity, divorce, loosing both parents in an accident

It started slow, the romance was nowhere to be seen. Then it began to develop and the banter was good. The buildup and tension was great. The ending was definitely rushed. But I really liked it and will continue on with the series.

“Sometimes, a love so big comes along, and even if you only get to hold on to it for a little while, it can fill you up for a lifetime.

Sophie and Brax own my soul right now. Sophie goes back to her hometown, because unfortunately her grandma passed away. Thing is she hasn’t been back home in twenty years, because of... well, circumstances. Brax is someone she planned to hate. She planned to go back to pay her respects, see some family, and get back to her life in New York. Would this be any kind of story if all her plans worked out how she thought? Nope.

I think fans of ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, or just fans of small town romances in general, will enjoy this book. This is the first of this authors work that I’ve read, and I definitely plan to check out more!

I loved Sophie and Braxton’s story. It was so much more than just a simple love story. There is so much self discovery for Sophie and remembering who she is down in her roots. Braxton has formed his own opinions and decided what he wanted to before Sophie had a chance to get to Poplar Falls. But Braxton starts seeing a side of Sophie he didn’t think was possible and Sophie discovers that everything she’s always thought is not not as it seems. Both Braxton and Sophie deny how they feel about each other until the chemistry explodes. I felt so many emotions reading this book and loved every second.

3.5 stars. This book is extremely similar to ‘The Simple Wild’ by KA Tucker but not as good. Jefferson was a douche 90% of the book so it wasn’t emotional finding out the truth. He is definitely not Wren.
And Braxton is NO Jonah.

I completely devoured this book! From the moment I picked it up, I was completely hooked. This book had me absolutely swooning and laughing out loud. I loved the small town setting. Amber Kelly clearly has a knack for writing settings that feel so warm and inviting. This one was just captivating and wholly unique in feel. I loved every minute of the small town atmosphere created. It was charming, entertaining and just so pleasant.

I so enjoyed this story. Braxton and Sophie were everything, and I was completely smitten. I loved the dynamic between them and the tension that transpired between them. And not only were the main characters fantastic, but so were the side characters. There were so many side characters, I loved them all. This book also did an amazing job at getting me excited for the upcoming books in this series. I'm completely obsessed with this friendship group and want all their books right now!

Overall this book completely captured me and pulled me into this adorable, small town. I loved the main characters, and their romance. This book was steamy, romantic, and full everything I love in romance. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!
