It has potential but seemed like it could use some more polishing. 70% through the book the author mentions the story is set in Chicago...? Laughed out loud when I read that because it threw me off.
did i have a good time? absolutely. was it good? not really.
the first hundred pages were a good beginning: good character and world setting and the arranged marriage situation worked fine. i especially liked the way they got carried away with all this passion and sexual chemistry and everything outside turned blurry when they were supposed to just pretend.
then, everything rushed and went downhill. what bothered me the most was that the mcs lost all their spark.
don’t get me wrong, the book’s worth the try. perfect to get out of a slump. just turn off your brain and have fun.

Dull, boring and sluggish. I found the romance as about as passionate a rock and the development non existent.

Was this book good? No, but was it hella entertaining to read? Yes. It truly made me laugh out loud the amount of times it eluded to Nina being TINY and Roman being a gd giant— like the physics ain’t matching but I’m here for it. It was basically wattpad and I ate it up
Painted Scars was such a solid start to the Perfectly Imperfect series. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but I ended up really enjoying it.
This had all the classic dark mafia romance elements I love — a ruthless Bratva Pakhan, an arranged marriage, a heroine trapped in a dangerous world, and lots of delicious tension. Roman is cold, possessive, and so intense, and even though I wanted to shake him at times, I couldn’t look away. Nina, on the other hand, really surprised me. She starts off terrified and vulnerable, but there’s so much strength simmering underneath, and I loved seeing her fight back in her own way.
The chemistry between them? Absolutely
