Not a classic dog book. More about grieving a flawed individual, and about writing itself. If you’re looking for “Marley and Me”, this isn’t it. But what it is is strange and wonderful.

The writing takes this to 4 stars. Incredible use of repetition and theme to keep this engaging.
Dogs are so important (and perfect); following someone dependent through grief felt incredibly human and honest.

TW: Constant reference to suicide. It’s the whole book
