First heard of Christina Lauren when the Unhoneymooners was recommended in a FB book group. It's not my typical genre but I wanted a quick read. I absolutely loved it. So when researching other books by them to read, I found The House. A little love story mixed with some paranormal! I really enjoyed this book. A little repetitive regarding her parents but otherwise 4 stars!

I highly enjoyed this book. It raised some thought-provoking questions in my mind around abusive relationships. It also was entirely unexpected in terms of where the plot went and how it moved along.

This was a cute read read. A little on the predictable side, and the romance side was a bit bleh and roll-eye-worthy, but the whole supernatural thing was not bad.

The romance bit was obviously rushed. Aside from that, I have no other comment.

The supernatural bit was interesting. Predictable, as I guessed a couple of things correctly all along, but still nicely done.

Actual rating: 3.5
I didn't round up because I didn't feel like this book was worth four stars. While the storyline was very unique, I feel like Ms. Lauren focused too much on Gavin and Delilah's romance and not much was said for the house. I wanted a history and how the house came to be possessed. I wanted to see how Gavin's mother came to acquire the house and why she did the things she did but I never got any of that. Instead, I got to 2 lustful teenagers who couldn't keep their hands of each other which was okay for the most part but noting that this book IS entitled "THE HOUSE," I think I have every right to expect more parts about the House itself.

Full review to come.

Everyone wonders about The House. About the family inside. No one could imagine the truth.

I really enjoyed this one. Although different from anything I've read so far from my favorite writing duo, I was entertained all throughout the book, with a theme reminiscent of all my teenagers favorite reads.

It truly reminded me of Richard Matheson's Hell House but with a young adult streak and in a less frightening form. Oh and mixed with The Beauty and the Beast tale and all the animated objects! The "habitants" of the house were moody, funny, feisty and I loved them!
I've been literally sucked right into the story, appreciating the characterization, the setting and the mystery lying around Gavin. I HAD to know what was in that house myself!
Admittedly the romance part felt relatively brushed off and it wasn't the main interested for me while reading The House. I loved the heroine's voice, she really made me laugh and cheer because she was seriously badass.

All in all, this was a really good read, I wasn't spooked at all but my curiosity was definitely piqued pages after pages and I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.
I'm a bit disappointed with the ending, I felt it was a bit rushed as most of the book was relatively slow paced.

Look. This book was written in such a way that when the air got chilly in my apartment, I questioned it. When something made a clicking noise in the kitchen? I jumped.

Christina Lauren knocked this one out of the park. It's delicious and scary and fun (when you're not anxious over the well being of the protagonists).
