This was a reread from years ago and I was not disappointed, rather I found myself marvelling again at the remarkable achievement of this memoir. I am dazzled by Bauby’s achievement and resilience. and at the patience and dedication of his transcriber. Achingly beautiful, it is a testament to life, mind and spirit. Without dwelling on sentimentality, it is moving and tender. Bauby, at once condemned and imprisoned while floating in imaginative freedom , finds room for humour.

Very quick read but very interesting about the editor of the French version of Vogue who suffered a stroke and was completely paralyzed. He dictated it by blinking an eye to represent different letters, which must have taken forever, and it was a very interesting viewpoint. There's a French movie based on the book that I haven't seen yet but would like to.
