Josephine created the Mother Earth Water Walkers, an Indigenous and Water advocacy group. The Water Walkers are trying to bring awareness to climate change and the effect of our industrialized world. I really enjoyed this short introduction to Josephine and her granddaughter Autumn. Without book recommendations like this, I wouldn't be aware of the work done. This short listen, 15 minutes, is well worth the knowledge gained.

Thank you to Macmillan for the digital review copy!

This was a beautifully illustrated biography showing the importance of protecting of our water while also relaying the story of how a critical movement came to be in the hands of some extraordinary women. A perfect addition to any environmental/social justice picture book collection.

I went to a book reading Carole Lindstrom did for Water Warrior and she told the story of the real Autumn Peltier and her writing process for the book and it really set this book apart for me.

Linstrom's Children's books really push the message home about what many indigenous people are facing around the world with water rights, land rights, and wildlife protection. Autumn Peltier, Water Warrior was no different in its message.

As per usual, the art is amazing in the book! The writing is understandable for kids especially when tied in with the amazing illustrations, even when tackling the complex subjects involved. Autumn Peltier, Water Warrior is another amazing release for Carole Lindstrom in my opinion.

It's Carole Lindstrom, so I knew it was going to be incredible, and it was. Bridget George's illustrations were the perfect structure for Lindstrom's beautifully lyrical and powerful words. I am so glad I know about Autumn Peltier now and will tell everyone I know.
