Enjoyed this less than Fellowship but still a nice read. Tolkien continues to build the world and the first half / book three is really great. It’s often easy to get lost in the carefree writing and there’s a nice amount of room to breathe within Fangorn. However, felt like the Frodo / Sam half lacked a bit and can’t help but compare to the films which I think handled their relationship with more nuance.

Listening to the Andy Serkis narration for my reread was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm not going to review this book because of course it is five stars and that's all you need to know.
