I enjoyed the love story and the starting premise of she is left at the alter by her original intended, and instead ends up marrying her childhood love the same day. He had left the continent to make his fortune and has returned with buckets of trauma, friends and his first born child in tow. These characters were interesting the pacing of the book was engaging.

Reread 9-9-18: I loved this book much more this time around. The setting, the romance, the suspense plot - all of it pulled me in. I don't remember loving it as much the first time I read it, but it was well worth the re-read.
Original Review (http://bookbinge.com/2013/12/review-the-seduction-of-elliot-mcbride-by-jennifer-ashley-2/) : Juliana St. John is surprised on her wedding day when her groom doesn’t show. Turns out while she was waiting at the church he was getting hitched to someone else. This ends up not being such a bad deal for her, however, when Elliot McBride agrees to marry her instead. She asks in a moment of lunacy, but he’s quick to accept.
Elliot is actually there to stop the wedding, so the groom’s idiocy works in his favor. He’s loved Juliana his whole life and always intended to marry her. Since he came home from war, he’s having trouble readjusting to society. He’s convinced she’ll be enough to keep him sane. If she loves him, he’ll be ok. Of course that isn’t really how it works. But he wants to be enough for her, and she wants to make things work with him.
I struggled with the sub-plot featuring the dead man from India. The whole thing seemed silly and a bit contrived. Aside from furthering the romance along, I’m not sure what place it served. It seemed to come out of nowhere and not really tie in with the rest of the novel.
That aside, this was a gripping romance. Elliot really needs Juliana, which was a nice change of pace. Right from the beginning he knows he needs her to help battle his demons, and she doesn’t disappoint. Ashley excels at writing strong female characters, and Juliana was no exception.
Ashley writes such engrossing novels. I was wrapped up in this story from beginning to end. Suffice it to say, another winner and well worth a read.

I went in to this one blind. No synopsis or any idea what it was about. Let's just saw I was pleasantly surprised. Some parts were a little hard to believe but that's a romance/drama for you, just go with the flow.

It’s quite boring. The execution of trauma and PTSD wasn’t well written at all I think. Very flat.
