Thought this was really quick read but it really didn't add any sustenance to the overall plot of the series. The book does have a main character who suffers from PTSD and how it does affects their daily life.

Enjoying this series and I love when Lord Ian makes an appearance as well as Fellows and Cam.

I enjoyed the read - seeing old characters again -and I felt for Elliott and what he had gone through.

I don't have much to say - except that I am looking forward to reading Daniel's story next!

Another good one.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix

Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This book covers mental illness, PTSD, torture, enslavement, murder, colonization, racism, xenophobia, abandonment, long term pining, scandal, fear, heartbreak, sex, and love.

None of these themes were addressed fully and almost all were a disappointment if not completely offensive.

I cannot recommend this story.

DID NOT FINISH: 60%

I couldn’t put myself through anymore of this. I LOVE the MacKenzie series but this is Not Like The Others. I am not finding much to love about either character. There is a lot of sex without plot development and what plot there is is racist and xenophobic.

I am a softy for the healing power of love and redemption.

Elliot was tortured for 10 months in India. He survived by thinking of Juliana. He can't believe it when she asks him to marry her. However, is love enough to heal him?

Really good "damaged" hero if you're into that sort of thing. I enjoyed the story.

Overall, I like this series, Highland Pleasures. I just didn't feel that book was all that exciting. There was not as much romance, little history on whatever romantic feelings the 2 lead characters felt for each other. And

Elliot, I felt for the poor man but how many times did we need to be reminded of his PTSD charactistics in any given chapter? I felt like I was re-reading the same sections over and over in some cases with that.

I actually enjoyed more of some of the secondary characters than the leads. Elliot's uncle was a hoot.

It was an easy but plain read for me. It's a good book to pass the time but I could have skipped it and been just a happy reading something that caught my imagination more.
