I really enjoyed this book and was taken back to warm nights watching the GG Fab 4. Thank you to Hyperion and NetGalley for the ARC. You'll hear the GG voices as you're reading and picture every facial expression, especially Dorothy's LOL.

This was a fun, quick read! Obviously loving the Golden Girls and already being endeared to the characters made it enjoyable, even if the plot wasn’t the strongest.

Picture it, Sicily…
Actually no, picture it… a St Olaf wedding in Miami with murder! This is what the first Golden Girls mystery dishes up and I was hanging onto every page in delight!!

Rose’s niece is getting married, and rather than elope Rose promises to arrange the wedding plans… in Miami! It’s going to be a very traditional St Olaf wedding in Miami, with donkeys and ostriches and everything! That is until interfering in-laws get in the way and a murder victim, that is none other than Dorothy’s date!!! What follows is mystery and mayhem and the kind that only the Golden Girls can solve!

Ever since I discovered cozy mysteries I feel like I’ve been dreaming about this book! I grew up watching Golden Girls episodes on re-runs. Now in my 40’s I absolutely love curling up with a blanket and a tub of ice-cream and re-watching episodes. There is something about these women that is absolutely timeless and also perfect for cozy mystery mayhem!

The mystery was splendid. The reader gets caught up with all the antics that happen during a wedding [because it can never run smoothly], especially with Rose Nylund as wedding planner!! Add in a murder, with multiple suspects, including Dorothy, and I couldn’t put it down for a second!!

If you love cozies you need to pick this one up. Grab a cheesecake or ice-cream and settle in for a walk down memory lane with the Golden Girls. You will feel like you’re back in the 80’s with this timeless read!

Was a bit too light for me at the moment. I'll bet this is going to make a lot of book-loving Golden Girls fans very happy though!

🍰 Book Review: Murder by Cheesecake 🕵️‍♀️
Picture it: Miami. 1980-something. A wedding, a corpse, and a lot of herring.
The Golden Girls are back! When Dorothy's date ends up face-down in dessert, Rose's St. Olaf-themed wedding week quickly spirals from quirky to chaotic. With the wedding on the line and every guest a suspect, it's up to our favorite ladies to solve the crime—sass, sarcasm, and Sophia's zingers included.
What I Loved:
💛 Nostalgic vibes and witty banter
 🍰 Sophia’s snarkiness = perfection
👯‍♀️ The Girls solving a mystery together? YES.
What Fell Flat:
🔍 The mystery was meh. The killer's reveal was obvious early on
📺 The character magic didn't fully translate from screen to page
📖 Dragged in spots—lots of quirky filler, not enough sleuthing
Final Thoughts:
This had all the ingredients for a delicious cozy—classic characters, nostalgic setting, and a ridiculous murder involving cheesecake. But it just didn't stick the landing. The humor didn't always hit, the mystery fizzled, and the girls didn't fully feel like themselves. Would I read the sequel? Maybe. Would I rewatch the show instead? Definitely.
