I honestly have no idea why this book had to be written. I didn't feel like I learned anything I didn't know about the myth, and the insight into Ariadne and her sister's heads just made it... worse. If you're going to do a retelling and pretty much stick to one of the canons of the myth, you're not going to write anything particularly revolutionary.

It felt very YA romance gone wrong. I expected this to portray Ariadne as someone who was truly horrified by the sacrifice to the Minotaur, but instead she starts off as a horny teenager with very little regard for other people unless they're pretty.

I absolutely love this book and I feel it made my love for mythology even deeper although I did love it it was still very sad as it reminded me of the bleak ends that women had in their original myths. One thing I love about this book is Ariadne’s support of women in a world where they are cast aside like herself by men and gods alike. One thing I can say even though her ending in Circe was not a good one the ending of both her and her sister Phaedra completely fleshed out saddens me even more because in the end she was just like the women who she revered suffering because of man and gods actions alike set to live an eternity in the stars.

So much foreshadowing…and such a sad ending :(

I love this book. I love classics and I love well written modern versions, especially with a feminist take. Very enjoyable, very well written. No notes from me.

oh how ariadne’s story forever touches the fragile parts of my heart immensely

- listening to mitski at the end of this book was not a great idea
- greek mythology is really just a study of tragedy
- basically men ain’t shit
- reminds me of how important women really are to mythology, history, and the world itself; a woman can change a man irreprehensibly (and i say a man because men are the ones who need to be changed in ideology most of the time)
- a cautionary tale for those who trust and forgive too easily
- phaedra :( hippolytus :((
