I really wanted to like this book, but the only redeeming part is the last third. I was expecting to enjoy this like I enjoyed Circe... but where Circe is like a calm, meandering drive down the coast, Ariadne is the exhausting long-haul through western Kansas (flat and boring). The majority of the book felt like a regurgitation of Greek mythology - a fact which many other reviewers have expressed. However, the last third of the book was absolutely stellar. It was fast-paced, beautiful, sad, and everything I wanted out of Ariadne.

I will probably read Saint's upcoming release as well with hope that the entire book will be as amazing as the last third of Ariadne.

The audiobook was good. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it was still good. Got the job done.

I listened to this audiobook on Hoopla through my public library.

These books just make you hate men ❤️ this is my second book by Jennifer and she is a beautiful writer! I love how she expands on Greek mythology and turns these stories into books that touch on the difficulties of womanhood - post partum depression, gender roles, etc.

Overall this book was entertaining and provided voices to Ariadne and Phaedra, two women frequently overlooked in Greek mythology. There were some points where things would just “happen” and we would be told which wasn’t my favorite type of writing to read.

I unfortunately do not get the hype, this felt extremely rushed, flat and barely a feminist retelling as I thought it to be. Ariadne, as a character, I thought was extremely weak not just as a woman but as a person. I also found the writing style very simplistic and I just struggled to stay engaged.

Extremely average.

This book is brilliant, giving flesh and feelings to ancient stories.

it was good but nothing compares so Circe and having read that before this one made this one not as good. i also read it mid reading slump so maybe it was unfair.
