The Damaged by Tijan

The exciting new novel in the insiders series. Bailey is still recovering from her second kidnapping attempt while also getting ready to start school. Bailey had wanted to keep her family name a secret but it’s too late for that. Bailey now has to navigate a world full of fake friends and enemy’s to create the future she wants.

Meanwhile Cash is facing the hardest challenge yet, his grandfather Calhoun. He has to try to stay one step ahead of the man that destroyed his family and is now after him.

I really enjoy tijans writing and while this isn’t my favorite series of hers it’s still enjoyable to read. I just wish the damaged had been able to give me the deeper feelings that the insiders had. This story felt lighter than it should have for the events within the story. I’m really hopeful that the next one will be more like the first in this aspect since it should be exciting and have more action.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW

I’m not a huge fan of the audiobook version of The Damaged. Mostly because the voices didn’t match as well as I would have liked. And this is just my personal opinion. I’m sure others will think otherwise. I just found Baileys voice to be different that I pictured when reading. I didn’t mind Cash’s voice. I feel like the narration by Joe Arden was a better fit to the character.

I received an advanced audiobook and an advanced ebook copy through netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

ARC Review•••

I really enjoyed “The Insiders”, the first book in this series and was looking to this continuation of Bailey’s and Kash’s story. I love a good suspense/action book with romance. I’m all for fast pacing that keeps me on the edge of my seat and this second book in this series does that well.

Bailey is finally starting grad school and learning to navigate her new life as someone in the spotlight not only due to who her father is but also because of who she is dating. Just like this first book, this story is spicyyy.

I will be honest and say that I had a harder time getting into the story and I felt like the grad school experience for Bailey felt off and unrealistic…then again this book is not really meant to be realistic necessarily. Just being honest, I liked the first book, "The Insiders" better.

This second book had similar issues for me that the first book did, it had awkward writing at times. Some of the lines or words used just felt cringe-y or out of place.

Overall I so appreciate the advanced copy, and I am glad I was chosen to get to read the second book in this series, I like Bailey’s character and to be honest Kash’s even more.

Book 2 in The Insiders Trilogy ~ absolutely needs to be read after [b:The Insiders|54860180|The Insiders (The Insiders Trilogy, #1)|Tijan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1602969904l/54860180._SY75_.jpg|85599799] as this is the continuation of the story.

Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, college student, tech genius, billionaire, possessive protector, some steamage

Bailey & Kash's story picks right up where it left off. She's trying to fit in in college and get used to her new life as Peter Francis's daughter. I know she's young, but she acts a bit immature at times. He is busy being powerful and always conducting business.

Since there was quite a bit of action going the pace was fast. The ending was really crazy and unexpected. The story will conclude in [b:The Revenge|59808327|The Revenge (The Insiders Trilogy, #3)|Tijan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1654482409l/59808327._SY75_.jpg|94199824].

I'm sorry friends, but my IT skills are not as vast at Bailey's. I tried really hard to find out the name of the hottie boom bottie on the cover, but I came up empty handed. I know, I'm super sad too.

Holy cow. It's been a while since I have finished a book this fast. Wow, just wow. I could not put it down and can not wait to see how this series ends. I'm telling you start from the beginning and read the series.

This series is killing me in the best ways possible.
The growth in the relationships that Bailey started to form in book one was astronomical. Her family, her and Kash, even the relationship she had with herself.
I think Matt was probably my most surprising character, and that’s all I’m saying about him.
The twists and turns really do keep me on my toes, and I never can pinpoint where the hits are coming from. It’s like fist fighting with a blindfold, but give me multiple attackers and my hands are behind my back.
I cannot spoil this. But I am dyingggggg for the next release, and I know it’s so far away!

Update: 1/22-

The audio to this is SO GOOD! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and it’s just brought back how much I NEED the next book in the series.

The Insiders ★★★

Second book in this series and I’m still on the three star train. Like I said about The Insiders, Tijan knows how to get me to keep reading. Her writing has such an addictive sway about it. I finished this in a day because I kept needing to know what the next thing would be.

Story wise, we really didn’t get much. Of course, we got a few twists and an ending that makes you want to read the next book. However, there wasn’t any character growth and nothing really happened for most of the book. Bailey and Kash have sex, Bailey goes to school, Kash has to go on a trip. REPEAT. I can say that I’m glad that this didn’t feel drawn out and was only 311 pages. Sometimes authors drag books that don’t need it.

My biggest issue was the lack of communication. Kash shut out quite a bit from Bailey that didn't make sense. For someone who was so in tune with her feelings and personality, why didn't he see that some of his actions would affect her or was just something that he should have been in communication about?

While this hasn’t been my favorite series from Tijan, I am curious enough to see how this ends to pick up the last book in this trilogy.

This book blew my mind away! There was so much that happened in this book that is was like being in a rollercoaster while reading.

This book is the next one in The Insiders series and it picks up where the first book left off. You get to learn so much more about these characters than what was shown in book one. For me, I liked the growth from some of the characters, but was also questioning some of the decisions made by other characters. I will say I was not expecting some of the things to happen in this book so that made for an interesting plot. There were twists and turns that keeps you on your toes and has you constantly wondering what will happen next!

This book was such a great book that it was action packed! I enjoyed reading this book so much and can’t wait to read what’s gonna happen next in the series! I was left with so many questions that I just NEED to know what is to come!

I definitely recommend this book for others, not only of you have already started this series but the ones who haven’t. Definitely start this series, it’s romance, action, and thrilling!
