A little bit slow/wordy, but a really clever concept and I loved the use of nursery rhymes/fairy tales as a mechanism for passing spells from one generation of witches to the next. The queer representation is great, although a bit over the top in some parts where it seemed like an unlikely time for relationships.

"The Once and Future Witches" follows the Eastwood sisters—Juniper, Agnes, and Bella—who reunite in 1893 to revive witchcraft in a world that has suppressed it. The sisters, each with their own struggles and strengths, join the suffrage movement in New Salem, blending political activism with magical rebellion. As they fight for women's rights and confront dark forces, they must also mend their fractured relationships and confront their pasts. The novel intertwines themes of feminism, sisterhood, and the enduring power of witchcraft.
