i was so emotional by the end! such an interesting and cool take on heartbreak from a man’s perspective so that was very unique. the writing is digestible, easy to follow, grounded in reality and heartbreakingly beautiful and raw at times. i wish the themes of true grief in heartbreak lingered longer sometimes but overall, i am in awe

I loathed the main character so much. The last 20% of the book is better than the rest but I still wouldn’t bother. 1.5 for that bit.

So good, too real. A book every person who went through a breakup needs to read. The first 90% of the book made me laugh and the last 10% made me ache.

Was having a small case of ‘readers block’ but this made me get back into the swing of things. Andy was quite insufferable but kinda crack up with his questionable decision making, he was still fun to read. Reallyyyy loved Jen’s chapter at the end - so refreshing after Andy being a big baby for 80% of the book, I just wish there was more of her :(

“Once saw her nod respectfully at a TINY JADE SPOON in the British Museum.”

"I don't know if I really want to move on, because the further away I get from the pain, the further away I get from her."

"You don't let go once. That's your first mistake. You say goodbye over a lifetime. You might not have thought about her for ten years, then you'll hear a song or you'll walk past somewhere you once went together - something will come to the surface that you'd totally forgotten about. And you say another goodbye. You have to be prepared to let go and let go and let go a thousand times."

"Life is a bit more difficult for women. More difficult than it is for us, I mean. And you don't need to ask them to explain why or understand it all. You just need to be nice to them."

“You know how to be alone without being lonely. Do you know how rare that is? Do you know how much I wish I could do that? It’s a wonderful thing you’ve got going on there.”

“There are so many hidden miniature break-ups within a big break-up.”
