cute graphic novel, I found it was too short and could have been fleshed out more

Super cute but also super emotional and amazing conversation about grief and moving on. Only problem I had is that it was way too short! I want more!!

It's the late 1990's. Marjorie is a 13-year old who runs her family's laundromat since her mother died (her dad pretty much just wallows from what the reader can see). Marjorie feels isolated in her world with no real friends at school and a neighborhood man who insists he is going to turn their laundromat into a yoga studio.

Then there is Wendall, a ghost, who makes his way from the land of ghosts to Marjorie's laundromat.

This is a melancholy, heartbreaking young adult graphic novel that is focused on Marjorie so you don't really get any other perspective. The artwork is colorful and unique.

This was okay. The art was very good, especially in setting the tone for the afterlife and the living. The characters were fine, but to me most of them were completely unrelatable while others felt like they existed to be rude assholes. The ending was good though and the final third was emotional and I would say that it was worth it finishing it. Try it out if you want, but I wouldn't throw this in people's faces and demand they read it.

Insightful comic that touches on depression, grieving, bullying, and making friends in the oddest of circumstances. It also shares a great light on how children and teens are often burdened with carrying the weight (income, emotional and mental support) of the family when a parent is not engaged and going through their own crisis.
