SCUM Manifesto

such a cathartic thing, indeed very cool and fun, indeed very tragic. you’re free to interpret it in whatever way you like, literal or metaphorical, and i won’t disclose how i interpret it. no matter how you look at the contents of the text, it’s all true, it’s our life

Skip the jargony intro and get to the goods. A wild ride of a manifesto, unhinged vision for the time it was written (especially in prediction of an automated society) - hits different in the age of generative AI. One to keep coming back to with every technological breakthrough. Viva la SCUM

a fascinating read. a lot of valid criticisms that unfortunately steer into some very ableist ideas. but it absolutely speaks to the desperation for equality/equity for women.

Woah there, Val.

Valerie Solanas' SCUM Manifesto is passion-filled for sure. A little sad to see people idolizing her these days despite her TERF precursor status. Aside from the moral implications and the discussion of whether or not Solanas was serious with SCUM, it's well-written, and undeniably an important historical text (especially concerning feminist history). However, prepare to take offense.
