Okay, Okay, I don't think this book fully changed my feelings about racing but it definitely opened a door. I learned more than I ever thought I would, that's for sure. I'm pretty obsessed with the trope of falling for your celebrity crush. They are living the dream. Because of that it's funny that Ryder was the one to feel a bit instalove. I'm also loving when a couple gets married and doesn't tell me just to get a "THAT'S MY WIFE" scene. It's pretty cute that they got married twice. I'm looking forward to reading more stories in this universe.
really love how charles leclerc is just the face of most f1 mmcs in the reels
out of all the f1 romances I've read (i think about 7 or 8) this is my fave one so far
like idk the way this was written was a bit cheesy, but tolerable enough that i was vibing with blake while she girlbossed everywhere
and ryder was fine as an mmc, like i get why he's an asshole at the start, i would be too but he got better in a few chapters

“We do this together.”
A top read of this year for me!
What’s better than one F1 racer? TWO. Ryder is a champion F1 racer who gets an opportunity to join a new team after recovering from a bad accident. Blake is an amateur racer who catches the eye of the new team. After a test race in which she beats her opponents, she is offered the second spot on the team, making her and Ryder teammates.
My favorite part of Ryder and Blake’s journey is that there was never any misogynistic behavior from Ryder regarding Blake’s talent and right to be a racer in a sport that is primarily male dominated. From the moment he met her, he was in awe, and did everything he could to support her. Of course, aside from being teammates, their obvious chemistry becomes more apparent when Ryder lets Blake move in with him during the season. Y’all know I love me some forced proximity and CARETAKING (like I melted).
I just really don’t have words to express how supportive this couple was of each other. Whether it was friends, teammates, or lovers, the little things (and the big things) were the actions of love before either one acknowledged how they felt. Aside from his accident, Ryder struggles with the death of his parents, and Blake refuses to let him suffer and carry that weight alone. Likewise, Ryder constantly encourages Blake, hyping her up and doing all he can to watch her succeed. I was happy there was no third act break up, because once these two were all-in, they did not look back, and handled any issues that came up together.
This debut was just everything I love about romance. Blake and Ryder’s friend group were amazing and I can’t wait for their books!

Thank you to LoveNotes PR for sending me an e-arc in exchange for honest review! I really really enjoyed this book, it was fast paced, exciting and the romance was gorgeous.
Our mc’s become friends first because they’re in a forced proximity situation. We have a damaged hero, a woman in f1 and they’re teammates!! There’s also the caretaker trope, a fuck it kiss and let me tell you the physical touch girlies WIN!! There’s so much physical touch I die. AND no third act breakup.
I don’t want to spoil anything but there’s some fucking adorable race traditions that they do and it made me scream. You can tell these characters have a genuine connection and it’s really believable.
The F1 element is done perfectly. It’s user friendly with a list of essential definitions at the front and I feel if you haven’t watched the sport before you could absolutely follow along and enjoy it. As an F1 fan I was sufficiently fed. The racing is accurate, exciting and is really visual in your head. It’s clear Kayla is an actual fan and knows her stuff. Theres also articles and podcasts that help tell the F1 side of the story and give more context and information in a fun way. Hats off!!
I think with some edits this could be an even better book. Our FMC Blake is very clumsy and I think it’s an attempt to make her endearing, funny and more human - but it missed the mark with me personally. The incessant tripping and falling over got old fast. She’s an F1 driver!! Also she keeps saying things out loud without realising which is a personal peeve of mine because that does not happen.
This book is VERY fast paced which was great, I loved how it never got boring. However some bits - especially one MAJOR MAJOR event - were skipped over and I would’ve loved to see more detail!! I don’t often ask for more pages but in this case I am.
All in all a great book, highly recommend!

Love F1, book was lighthearted and fun. I cannot get over the fact that I kept trying to figure out how she got enough points to get a super license.
