This was a first-time author for us, and we really enjoyed our first read by them. From the moment you started turning the pages the action started and stayed constant to the bitter end. The story was shrouded in a whole lot of mystery.
We enjoyed all the characters and Lizzy's roommate was a hoot she made us laugh constantly throughout the entire story.
My heart went out to Lizzy and all she had to endure with her losses and how she dealt with things going forward but, we hated that she lost that connection with her best friend and continued to feel that loss all the way until adulthood that connection was that profound.
Overall an enjoyable mystery/romantic suspense with more than a few surprises some we suspected others didn't see coming. Would love to dive more into this series and also try out some of this author's books. Even though this story was not one of those heart-pounding kinds of a suspense read it was one quite intriguing, and we absolutely loved the ending, and we are hoping to see more of these main characters once again.

A little dragging and the heroine was annoying at times, otherwise ok read.
4.5 stars.
I saw “serial killer” in the blurb and I immediately said to myself “sign me up.” I think I’ve mentioned this before, I have a fascination for true crime and the psychology behind the murder and/or motive. And since I’ve loved everything I’ve read by Ker Dukey, I had some high hopes for Lost Boy.
When Lizzy was a child, serial killer Willis Langford murdered her mother and kidnapped her best friend, Jack. Since then she has coped by keeping friends and family at a distance, while dealing with the nightmares she frequently has of Jack.
She’s working and going to college when she gets a new neighbor that she can’t explain her reaction to. Coincidentally, people connected to her keep ending up dead. Is Willis coming for her? Is it a copycat? Is Lizzy next?!?
Great mixture of romance and thriller, as I kept guessing and wondering what would happen next. The connection between Lizzy and her mystery man was visceral and I kept rooting for them.
Thrilling and suspenseful, I found myself surprised by the ending – I never guessed the twists and turns that came.

Wow! Just wow...
This new story by Ker Dukey is amazing! Enough said! I am definitely going to be putting this in the running for my "Best Reads of 2020"
This is a story filled with all the feelings! I was so invested in this story from the get-go and I couldn't believe how the story played out all the way to the end.
Nature versus nurture is at the heart of the story. Is it genetics that makes a serial killer or is it the environment that a person is embedded in? Ms. Dukey does a brilliant job of explaining it all with this story of Liz and Jack.
Liz has survived a horrible childhood, her survivors' guilt is something that she can't seem to shake, even after the years have passed. I could so empathize with her and her feelings towards her Lost Boy.
Jack too has suffered immensely. He was raised in the most horrific of circumstances and made him the man he is today.
There are twists and turns aplenty and you will be guessing and gasping your entire way through this riveting story!

At eight years old when Lizzy West best friend is kidnapped and her mother is killed her world as she knew it is gone. As a college student she's doing the best she can but the nightmares of that time and the memories keep her locked into that hell. She's never forgotten Jack, her best friend, her Lost Boy.
When a student she knows is murdered everything she's been fighting to hold in that dark place in her mind all come rushing back. Is it Willis? How did he find her? Is she next?
Ker Dukey is my go to author when I need that dark in a read. She hit the nail on the head with this one giving me dark and suspenseful with just a touch of romance.
I was intrigued by Lizzy but seriously wanted to throat punch her best friend! Dukey was all about writing a character I want to hate!!

This Is a story filled with twists and turns. I would call it more suspense than anything else. The build-up for romance didn't happen until late in the book and even then It still didn't feel like typical romance.
I never saw the twist at the end and the ending itself hinting at the doll maker was a nice touch. I was bothered by Charlotte in this story as she made some questionable choices as a supposed best friend. Still, a good solid book.

I loved the mood and the feeling of what, who and what am I missing?
The characters are great. The story flows well.
I read it very fast, I had to know what was going on!
I thought I knew the “twist” .. there’s not just one!
Love! It’s a great twisty, dark ride!

Lost Boy had me feeling emotionally drained but totally committed to the end. This story broke my heart with every devastating turn. Liz was heart broken over the boy she lost, Jack, and worried about what happened to him. She lived in a shadow of the unknown.
This story was beautifully written, giving all these characters depth and strength.
My only question is...who is the doll maker?

I really enjoyed this book, nature vs nurture - what makes a serial killer? When Liz was a child her life was turned upside down by a serial killer. He took everything she knew, years later he is back, or is he?
Who is her mysterious new neighbor and why are people dying around her?
Grab this one to find out.

Um, the end.. the end? Excuse me?
This whole book wasn't at all what I was expecting. Uh I kind of skimmed the synopsis and got mixed signals BUT it didn't matter. This was fast paces, it had so much going on making it really easy to read. At some point I wasn't trusting anyone.
The only thing that threw me negatively is the connection after so many years and them being children. When I was 7 - I didn't have an once of commitment, even to which was my favorite boy band. Also the police seems rather laid back for the circumstances.
That's not really what it's about, but still!
Would read from Ker again.
