A quick read but not much to it. Perfect book to read by the pool this summer. But none of the characters had any depth.

I really enjoyed this. A mix of dystopia and reality TV, I thought it was very intriguing and actually wanted to know more.

I really enjoyed this as someone who never watches reality dating shows bc they don’t interest me. This was so much more layered than a typical dating show, partly because there is a kind of unease about the state of the world outside “the compound” that as the reader you’re not very informed about, and due to the constant inner monologue of Lily. If she were a character on a reality dating show, I would probably not be rooting for her, but knowing her thoughts of course made me that much more invested. The commentary on late-stage capitalism will stay with me, and it is interesting to note the author taught about capitalism before writing this book.

This book had me right from the start. I was so intrigued as to where it was going (every time I thought I could guess what was going to happen… it went in a completely different direction. I simply HAD to find out how it all resolved. This is definitely one of those that will definitely make you think “what would I do…?” And the most unsettling part is that I had absolutely no idea the whole time. Perfect end of summer book to read during one of your last pool days.
