Maddie's not impulsive. She's all about hard work and planning ahead. But one night, on a whim, she buys a lottery ticket. And then, to her astonishment —
She wins!
In a flash, Maddie's life is unrecognizable. No more stressing about college scholarships. Suddenly, she's talking about renting a yacht. And being in the spotlight at school is fun... until rumors start flying, and random people ask her for loans. Now, Maddie isn't sure who she can trust.
Except for Seth Nguyen, her funny, charming coworker at the local zoo. Seth doesn't seem aware of Maddie's big news. And, for some reason, she doesn't want to tell him. But what will happen if he learns her secret?
With tons of humor and heart, Kasie West delivers a million-dollar tale of winning, losing, and falling in love.
Every time I read a book by KASIE WEST I seem to fall in love more, with the characters and the story in general. I do not think that there been a book of here that I did not enjoy. I am always looking forward to her books. LUCKY IN LOVE just like her other books was incredible, breathtaking. So many emotions are going through me after reading the book, and while I was reading it. LUCKY IN LOVE is one of those books that once you start reading it, you will have to force yourself to put it down. I started it on New Year’s Eve and next thing I know few hours have passed and I read half of the book. Just when you assume that you can put the book down, something happens that makes keep on going. KASIE WEST is the author that I am glad I came across those years back. She had become one of my favorite young adult authors and I would recommend her books to any young adult fans.
The choices that Maddie had to make in LUCKY IN LOVE are real choices, and if it were me in her situation, I do believe that I would be overwhelmed. When she won, I felt in as much shock as she was in. I thought it was nice of her to give some of it to her parents and some to her brother. However, I do feel as if her brother took advantage of the amount of the money that Maddie gave him, just based on the decisions that he made and how he reacted when she tried to talk to him about it. It did not take long for me to notice that others were taking advantage of her, and some even trying to make decisions for her or convince her, like her uncle for instance. It is no wonder she took out on Seth when she found out that he knew that she was the lottery winner. I do think she should have gone to financial advisor sooner than she did, but I am glad that she finally did.
It was clear how much Seth and Maddie cared about one another. I was rooting for two of them to get together. I feel as the only time that Maddie seemed the most happiest is when she was around Seth. I was waiting for her to figure out how much he cares about her. Of course I was smiling when they finally I did. I do wonder what happen to the two of them after, if they stayed together, if the long distance worked out. The emotions and the descriptions in this book were amazing, I felt as I was actually there and feeling everything that Maddie was. LUCKY IN LOVE is a book that I would highly recommend to any young adult fans. A story that is worth a lot more than five stars.
Lucky in love is a story of a girl who won a lottery and flipped her life upside down from a girl who has money related problems to a girl who can buy anything and pay for everything.
This book for me is so realistic that I agreed to most of the situations and due to this it was predictable.
This book is about lessons in life and not mostly focused on romance.
Overall, it was okay and this is my least fave book of Kasie West. But I still do recommend it.

This was a super cute and fast read! Kasie West is truly the best. (That rhymed!) The love interest is an Asian (!!!!) named Seth Nguyen who happens to own my heart. They don't shy away from how Asians are treated in our society, which made me love this book even more. I became quite emotionally invested in the book, which caused a lot of stress on my end when the main character (Oh Maddie..) made some stupid decisions. But I don't blame her, considering how overwhelming everything must have been. Anyways, I loved this book and I would recommend it to anyone who has loved a Kasie West book in the past.
I don't know if it's the fact that it's been a while since I've read a YA contemporary book or that I'm really conservative with my money, but Maddie pissed me off in the way she kept spending. It also ended quite abruptly without really knowing what happens with her friendships or her family.
I started this book on audio over a month ago. I finally gave up on it because the reader just was not working for me. I seriously considered just giving it an eternal pass after that, but since I've never read a Kasie West that I didn't adore, I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. Honestly I am glad I did. It turned out much better than I would have hoped!
“We make our own luck. I believed that, too. We chose our own fate. We controlled our own future. I knew what I wanted. I needed to go get it.”
This book is definitely a super light summer read!
Girl wins the lottery. Changes her life. Changes her relationships with others.
I've always been interested in stories that explore the cons with money. The whole story line that money can't make you happiness and that you can't buy love. Also how money can change a person, is a concept I've always been interested in.
The protagonist was frustrating for sure but something that I enjoyed about her character was her love for planning and hard work. I always love characters who are massive planners and the anxiety that comes with, things not going to according to plan.
The romance I did quite enjoy, I wish of course that there was maybe more buildup and that we got to see them as a couple for longer. This story is pretty predictable, but if you are looking for a light summer read with a cute subtle romance and the lottery sub-plot, then you may enjoy this one!!

This is a zero. A negative million if that is possible. I don't even know or understand who allowed this complete drivel to be published. Every character is a piece of garbage, except one, and he is NOT IN THE BOOK ENOUGH. Her family, her brother, her "friends," her naivete, all GARBAGE. There is only one good thing. The ending. Because I didn't have to read anymore. I am so mad that I wasted my time with this book, and believe me, it was. A waste of time. GARBAGE.
Eh. I didn’t love this book. Maddie was way too gullible to the point of not being believable and her family and friends were kind of crappy. She made such dumb decisions it was painful. The only character I really liked was Seth. Everyone else was either awful or boring.
