I'm okay with pretending Kasie never wrote this one if you are.
Lucky in Love begins with Maddie, the school obsessed hardworker who doesn't believe in luck. Until she ends up buying a lottery ticket on her birthday, and wins 30 million dollars. Soon Maddie's life is completely different. She doesn't have to worry about how she's going to pay for college and suddenly everyone at school knows who she is. The downside is she doesn't know who she can trust when rumors start flying and everyone starts asking for loans. Expect for Seth, her cute co-worker at the local zoo who she ends up not telling about her win.
Maddie is a girl who works hard in school... and that's it. She has no other hobbies and the only interesting thing about her is when she wins big. Her two best friends were interchangeable and slightly annoying. Even the love interest wasn't fleshed out. While there were some cute moments between Maddie and Seth, there wasn't much falling in love here... it was just all about Maddie making bad choice after bad choice. Oh god and the sideplot with her family and her jerk brother? Call the nope train because I'm out of here.
I get that Maddie is young but watching a dumb teenager throw money away like it's nothing and trusting people that easily is never going to work for me. I'm honestly still annoying and I'm going to pretend this book never happened. I've never hated a Kasie West book so much.

"Sometimes regardless of what we want, reality takes over."It's just... not very good I'm sorry to say. I've never had an issue with Kasie's books- normally I instantly give them 4 stars and have a fun time but this one? Yikes. While it's slightly better than the very similar, Windfall, it still didn't work.

This was approximately 4.5 to 5 stars. I love the realistic of this book. It's really hard to win the lottery (Maddie said and I quote "You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than winning the lottery.") but some people do. And I feel really bad for what Maddie was being put through. I'm glad she got it all figured out now. I really like this book!!!
This is a story about a girl who learns about the advantages and disadvantages about having money and how not everyone can be trusted.
I felt like the romance was buried under the Maddie's money AND family AND friend problems. Seth and the zoo were the BEST characters in this entire cast (maybe also, because I could stand the narrator's voice a little bit when he spoke.). The rest of the cast annoyed me. The parents were disappointing. *sigh* The family aspect of this story was relatable and did not make it an escape read for me.
What I took out of this book:
1. More Money, more problems.
2. If you win the lottery, get a financial advisor RIGHT AWAY!
3. Money doesn't fix people... Was that really a surprise?
Last note: DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS BOOK ON AUDIO!

How did I get myself to rate a Kasie West book less than 4,5 stars?
None of Kasie West's books I've read so far has been a misser for me. So you can imagine my excitement when Kasie West releases a new book. Unfortunately, sometimes we get hit by this unstoppable force called disappointment.
• I get it, okay? Some people are undeniably naive and while that's not a good thing, it's not necessarily negative either. In Maddie's case, it was just plain annoying.
"Who said that money can't buy happiness? I needed to buy that person a thing or two so they'd understand."
As if having money solves everything?????
• The way Maddie just throws around her money with people that only noticed her after she won the goddamn lottery like girl are you mental? I know naivite is a thing but c'mon?
• And the whole thing with her family was getting on my damn nerves. Especially her brother.
• The saying money changes people was definitely accurate here. Maddie basically did a 180 and when her best friend points it out Maddie's immediately like "oh woe is me, my friends hate me" like seriously girl?
• The only thing that saved this book for me was Maddie's obvious love for animals
• And Seth.

This is one of my comfort books. I love Kasie West & all her books, but this one has a special place in my heart.
I love all the struggles Maddie goes through, & I relate to her having trust issues (mine just don’t stem from being a millionaire). This book also makes me think of what I would do if I won the lottery, like really think, past the buy a car & a house scenario, & boy do I wanna manifest the lottery win for myself!

This book was so cute and adorable and reminded me that I love Kasie West books. I thought I wasnt going to vibe with the plot: girl winning the lottery and her life changes, but I liked how it was told.
Maddie had good intentions but she was very naive and I wish her parents hadn’t been so caught up in their own drama that they could have been there for her to help guide her with what to do with this money. That’s mainly the reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. She was just so concerned with making other people feel better and wanting to help or treat others that she didn’t realize she was letting things slip through the cracks or getting on talking to that financial advisor they brought up when she first won the money.
Her and Seth’s relationship was so cute though. I had a feeling that he knew about what happened the whole time but never brought it up cause he was waiting for her to. He was just so incredibly sweet and kind. And I loved that they both worked at the zoo and he’d been secretly requesting to work with her for the last 6 months.

stupid, predictable, fine, fast, fun!!! reading this was like eating cotton candy
3.5 the cute levels are high, the plot is basic but nice
why do i keep reading romances books when i dont have any romance in my life? now i just have a melted heart.
i liked the story, it was cute and silly. But i dont think its Kasie's best novel.
