This is probably the perfect modern P&P retelling. The banter and characters are spot on

I thought the premise made a really good setting for a pride and prejudice retelling. Some of the writing felt awkward and kinda forced (especially the male pov during the slow burn). But overall, a fun read.
I love a retelling! This book had everything I loved about the original while adding so many new thoughts and experiences that are relevant to today. I absolutely loved it

I love modern takes on old classics, and this one for sure did not disappoint. While a love story was at the heart of this book, I also appreciated the political aspects that were woven throughout the story, particularly for Liza’s character. From her radio show to her continuous commitment to fighting gentrification alongside her community, Liza was portrayed as a strong character who, yes, had flaws, but was also honest and stood up for what she believed in.
While a slow-burn romance is not typically my go-to book, I enjoyed this one. I was thoroughly entertained throughout and really enjoyed the banter between Liza and Dorsey. Dorsey was not my favorite character. To be honest, I thought he was a jerk most of the time. However, I do appreciate a book that showcases character flaws in male leads, and Dorsey did have a redemption arc at the end, so I was pretty satisfied with the conclusion. Also, I didn't see it coming that he would have such a dirty mouth! I literally gasped when I got to that part of the book. Okay, that made me like him a little more. It is always the quiet ones.
