felt reductive re: addressing gentrification and i didnt buy the love story
nikki payne, for being so dialed in, produced a romance book that i can only describe as ideologically lost? but not in a lost in the woods way more like a lost in the labyrinth from Labyrinth way. but by god did she write an entertaining book despite that. i LOVED to love the characters and i loved to hate they when they got on my nerves. also i laughed myself to tears SEVERAL times. ROMANCE IS BACK!! WHIMSY IS ALIVE!!!

This was cute and I liked a lot of the ways that this was reimagined. And Maurice actually had me laughing. But overall it was just ok.
