Na tuhle knihu jsem četla poměrně dost rozporuplných recenzí a i když to říkám nerada, převažovaly spíše ty negativní. Jak to tedy s touto knihou je?
Hmmm, ono je to totiž, tak trochu složitější.
Pravdou zůstává, že pokud hledáte plnohodnotnou literaturu z období druhé světové války, s výpovědní hodnotou, je tato kniha tragická. Jak ale většina z těch, co mě znají, ví, já takovou literaturu nečtu už z principu, nemám ji ráda. Takže jak se stalo, že jsem nejenom po této knize sáhla, ale zároveň ji i velice rychle dočetla?
To je jednoduché. Tato kniha je tak trochu chick-lit romance, o síle ženy za každé situace, odvaze jít si za svým snem, přátelství a solidaritě, soucitu, chladu, smutku i lásce. Mám ráda knihy o odvážných a odhodlaných ženách, knihy, které nám dávají na chvíli pocit, že když budeme bojovat a toužit, nakonec dosáhneme svých cílů. Takže ano, mě se tato kniha líbí.

Found myself invested in the characters, but the writing style was somewhat twee and very British stuff upper lip - which I found a bit grating tbh. Not the best WWII era book I’ve read, but certainly a different take on things.

3.75? Heartwarming and heartbreaking but I feel like it was slow slow slow slow for 200 pages and then everything happened all at once in the last 70. I liked this a lot though, and is another great addition to my WW2 historical fiction collection.
