I thought I would like this book for than I did after growing adoring the movie. It was pretty challenging to separate it from the movie. Nothing was wrong with it. I found Howl pretty annoying and some of the delicate romance and imagery from the moving missing from the book.

“Go and catch a falling star,
Get with child a mandrake root,
Tell me where all past years are,
Or who cleft the Devil’s foot.
Teach me to hear the mermaids singing, Or to keep off envy’s stinging,
And find What wind Serves to advance an honest mind.
Decide what this is about
Write a second verse yourself”
"I think we ought to live
happily ever after …”

It’s cute and fun and easy to read. It’s not really the same as the movie. Howl’s a lot less charming and Sophie’s a lot more grumpy but the necessary vibes are all there.
