Very disappointed where this book went. So so dark. Really didn't feel it needed to be. So many other directions it could of took. Only reason i gave it 2 stars is because it's so beautifully written

this couple has 0% survival instinct but I really enjoyed the story and the writing style was so refreshing

This book is crazy, and was pretty confusing, and overall probably the worst book I've ever read in my life. Horrible!

I wanted to give less stars because of how uncomfortable the turn of the story made me - I was not expecting such a dark story whatsoever, rather something more in the depressing, but not sinister, tone of Atonement and other works.

However, I must admit, McEwan nailed the mingled sexuality and escalating dread. Giving it three stars as a compromise between unease and shock well executed, and my leftover feelings of utter DIScomfort.
