I feel weird rating anything true crime related, but I think this was a very good comprehensive account of the ordeal. I'm glad there was some justice, though with crimes as heinous as this, there never can be enough. I did find a few parts to be very dense, in a sense that it's VERY good at showing how court proceedings went, which to me can be a bit hard to digest.

I listened to the abridged version. While not my normal procedure, I'm glad I did in this case. I got the facts and flow of the case without getting mired in the (20+ more hours) of details. This was succinct and informative.

For me, this book started a bit slow, though that shouldn't be a comment on how extraordinary the book was. Bugliosi did a great job of describing the entire process of the investigation and events. Overall it was a great choice. There is a lot of the author's personality showing through, which is a trait I admire in books, especially in nonfiction. The inclusion of actual crime scene imagery and maps really helped withe the understanding, and the face shots of the individuals involved in the Manson murders also helped with visualization. I found myself returning to them on many occasions to try and piece together the events described in the text. I highly recommend for those that are interested in crime novels, though this one is nonfiction and may be less "action packed" because it was far less planned. Amazing work.

This book took me a while to get through. So much information on every page but the way they author/prosecutor put all the detail and discussion in the book is a must read. Gives you a new understanding for the crimes. Especially since so much time has passed
