quite possibly the wildest (and longest) book i have read but it was definitely worth it! a lot of the book, in my opinion, was hard to get through just because there is so much of it and the detailed descriptions of the legal process was just hard to digest. i feel like it’s hard to criticize the story in of itself because this book is just pure fact- from before/during/after the tragic murders, the trials proceeding them and the crazy story of manson himself. i appreciate that bugliosi keeps things purely factual, aiding in that the fact that he was the prosecutor for this case, but also adds stylistic elements and in some parts his own opinion to make this a fascinating read. 4.5/5!

Deeply detailed and rather bigger down by those same details, it really does give you an excellent, in-depth view of the trial for the Tate-LaBianca murders.
Although I found this book to be tough to follow initially (a lot of names and locations), once I figured that all out I could not put it down! Bugliosi did an incredible job telling this horribly fascinating tale of the cult (the Family), the murders, the investigation and the trail. He even touches (at the end) about why the world is still so fascinated with the Manson murders (true crime and murder in general), which I found to be very interesting. If true crime is something that interests you, then I would recommend this book!
Granted, I haven’t read a ton of true crime books yet (listened to a lot of podcasts and watched a lot of docs though), but it’s hard to imagine anything topping this. There’s so much depth and detail covered, and it’s all wildly fascinating and terrifying. Also, shoutout to the legend Robert Foxworth for his narration on this audiobook. Mans was INTENSE
