An enjoyable book. This felt like a domestic style drama. It isn't until later in the book that it gets suspenseful. The plot kept me interested and I liked all the twists and turns. Some parts were a little predictable, which is why I gave it 3 stars.

I received this book from NetGalley in return for a honest review

4.5 stars rounded down.

My second Shalini Boland's book in the space of 24 hours and I'm really impressed. I love her writing style and she knows how to hold my attention. The book kinda started slow and I was going to put it down for a while but I decided to power through and I'm glad I did. The characters were interesting, and it was already obvious from the beginning that Darcy was shady but I was still intrigued.

Although I'm tired of the whole "husband thinks his wife is mad and believes the stranger he just met three weeks ago over his wife" trope. Worst thing is when everything is over, they stay together

This book is a bit far fetched/cheesy/lifetime movie-ish. That said I enjoyed it quite a bit so I am giving it 4 stars rather than 3. A fast read!

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this story with thanks to TBC. The Best Friend is a spooky story that you will not want to put down. Be careful who you trust in life! … Do you really know your best friend? This story is written well, easy to read, fast paced and contains short chapters. I was hooked. I have never hated a character as much as Darcy. Raaaa! I wanted to kill her. But I suppose that is a good sign that its a brilliant story. I would highly recommend this story to you all if you haven’t read it already. This is the first story I have read by Shalini and it won’t be my last. Brilliant. I can’t wait to read more by this author. I will not forget this story in a hurry! Addicted! Gutted I’ve finished it.

The Best Friend is perfect for readers who enjoy a spooky thriller, mystery and suspense filled story with plenty of lies, secrets, twists and turns. Brilliant. Enjoy, I did.

Predictability galore and not an original plot for this fast paced, psychological thriller, but I still liked it.

Louisa and Darcy meet and become fast friends. Their husbands, Jared and Mike, are getting along well and their young boys, Joe and Tyler, often play together. Louisa is just a smidgen jealous of Darcy's wealth. But it turns out that Darcy is slowly trying to take what Louisa has, or is Louisa just being paranoid and that isn't the way it is at all?

The birthday party mishap broke my heart for poor, sweet Joe.

Told mostly in Louisa's perspective with some flashbacks to the 90's and early 2000's about a not so nice person, which gives a little mystery aspect.

Narration:
Katie Villa ~ 8 hours ~ she did a nice job keeping me engaged with the story.

Overall, this was a decent thriller, but not overly wowable for seasoned thriller readers.

Psychological yes; thriller no.

I liked this book but I am not sure I would call it a psychological thriller. There are elements of surprise but nothing I felt was thriller type or that you couldn't predict.
