This one got better as it went on! I liked Alex from book 1 but Charlotte took some time to grow on me. Probably my favorite moments were when Charlotte was envious/admiring of Cecilia and the love between Cecilia and Ned. I just love outsider POVs??? Loved the begrudging Cecilia/Charlotte and Alex/Ned friendships (yeah yeah, Alex, we all know you're the one who wants all the double dates).

Oh I also love how Charlotte and Alex just casually stumbled into domestic bliss and were only in denial for so long, because they, being a witch and a pirate, respectively, are selfish beings, as they should be.

This was cute! Started off feeling almost a bit too chaotic after the first book, but once there was some emotional intimacy, it settled into a good balance of chaos and sweetness and overcoming your past.

This is definately my second favorite book of the series. I cannot get over how funny this series is, and yet it also manages to have some of the most genuinely beautiful relationships in it. I have begun recommending the series to anyone who will listen to me about it.

This was so jarringly horny for a fantasy AUSTEN romp :/ clearly just the norm for all fantasy romance now. Also so boring - every time new lore was revealed it was lesser and smaller than I hoped. How can u be a pirate without any High Seas so lame

I didn't chime with the humour at all - making every character apparently dumb as a sack of rocks and half blind just for the sake of a throwaway joke made the whole thing have no stakes

I think liked this even more than the 1st book because I was familiar with the universe already and the witches are much less whimsical than the pirates. Started and finished on a plane ride where I only intended to read a few chapters - 4.5 stars!
