I was looking forward to reading this because I typically love dystopian survival. I didn’t end up liking the structure of the plot. It was very meandering and I felt like there were so many different character POVs mixed together that you don’t actually get to know or learn that much about any of them. I’d consider this more literary fiction than a sci-fi/dystopian survival story like I was wanting.

A reread for my first book of the year. Liked it the first time and loved it this time. Decided to pick it up again after watching the excellent HBO series. I had to suspend belief when I read it the first time (flu pandemic wipes out most of humanity), but the second reading doesn’t seem too far fetched. The seemingly separate story lines merge perfectly to create a great book.

It's a very compelling book, and got my attention from the very beginning. It's amazing how the flu and comic books connected so many people, whether or not they knew about said connection. This kind of connection reminded me of All The Light We Cannot See.
