Too slight for its own good. Suspense is created but there is absolutely no pay off. Perhaps I hoped for too much given that this was written for a game.

Plot or Character Driven: Character

I really am a sucker for stories that place the characters totally abandoned in outer space. The Last Flight of the Cassandra is about an oddly matched group of people who
try to turn their life around by mining for ore and water on uninhabited planets, asteroids or moons. They are poor and on their own, so the Cassadra is a dumpster of a ship and they have to keep the temperature high and the oxygen levels low so they can save money.
I love the worldbuilding this adds to the Expanse series. It is true that the story feels unfinished (it is apparently written to be the starter of an RPG game), but the authors still manage to make the characters feel real, and the reader quickly is emotionally invested in how their story goes. I don't mind the unfinished nature of the story,  I like that we get a peak through a window into the lives of these people.

Short and sweet and surprisingly sinister - I can see why this wasn’t included in Memory’s Legion but I definitely liked it and it felt like it could have been a cool, atmospheric pre-cursor to some of the events in book 1.

If you think of this novella as a gaming hook for a role playing game, it'll make a ton more sense. Imagine being on Luna and having someone come to you, telling you about this mystery they uncovered.

Good little story. It ties in nicely to the rest of the universe.

Cool flavor, but the ending is a bit weak. Guess it's for an RPG, so maybe you create your own ending? *shrug*

I can't really tell if this short story was written by Corey or not. It didn't have the same feeling as the other stories, and I wonder if it wasn't included in Memories Legion because of copyright or because it just wasn't written by them. It also didn't add anything to the actually story line. All of the other short stories added something, some nuance to the "discussion" that you don't get in the novels. I really don't think this short story does that. Instead, it just adds a strange ship and nothing else. It's weird. Anyway, not my favorite by a lot.

4 Stars! Pretty great for a short story. Only about 16 pages. Worth checking out if you love everything about The Expanse like me!
