Halfway through the first chapter, I was afraid I would end up hating this book. The plot seemed a little rushed, and I quickly became annoyed with the frequent pop culture references. But the characters immediately made up for it. Simon is realistic without becoming a cliche, and so easy to root for. The conflicts were petty at times, but that only made them seem more like a regular group of 16 year olds.
Albertalli made a pretty simple plot into a lighthearted, meaningful story with characters I can't get enough of.

I'm trying to spend more time this year re-reading some of my favorite books, and this was a great start! I actually listened to it on audiobook this time around, and the narration was amazing. No complaints! Also I'm SO FREAKING EXCITED FOR THE MOVIE
first read in 2015
THIS BOOK IS WONDERFUL.
If a story about a cynical gay Harry Potter fan falling in love with somebody from the inside out sounds appealing to you, do yourself a favor and pick this up when it comes out in April.

THIS. Oh gosh, this may have been the reason why I docked a star from the above review. I also read this on audiobook which was awesome but may have been a mistake since I was grinning and giggling to my classes and people probably thought I was on something. I loved the romance between Simon and Blue SO MUCH. Honestly, it takes a lot for me to get on board with a romance but Simon and Blue from the second email exchange got me hooked. They just made me extremely happy. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda explores identity, acceptance, fear and friendship all in a realistic matter. The story talks about homophobia and racism in the south and the struggles of expressing oneself. At times, I hated characters, then loved them, then hated them again and it was all so confusing but amazing. This was HILARIOUS. I want to buy the book so that I can annotate and underline all my favorite quotes. The writing was no pretentious which I’m glad because I’m tired reading quirky books with pompous ass writing. Not every book needs to be John Green. Also, being in Simon’s head was such a treat but sometimes frustrating because using context clues, the audience knows who Blue is but Simon doesn’t. I kept wanting to scream OPEN YOUR EYES. Overall if you want to read something honest, cute and inspiring, I HIGHLY recommend this.

3,4 of 5 cuteness stars!
I'm really curious when six of my goodreads friends rated almost 4 to 5 stars for this books alone. I haven't tried not read their reviews first for unbiased expectation. I haven't any high expectation for this pieces.
What i can say is after finish this pieces is you will love cuteness overload relationship between Simon and his Mr.Blue (i don't want to reveal who is Mr.Blue since i'm already wrong at the guessing who he is hahaha)..
We will go through read Simon and Mr Blue's email exchange and when they more honest about whay they feel each other. This scene somehow reminds me when Will Grayson from [b:Will Grayson, Will Grayson|6567017|Will Grayson, Will Grayson|John Green|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1368393890s/6567017.jpg|6759965] when he have chatting online to meet a strangers man and also Moritz and Oliver from [b:Because You'll Never Meet Me|20649195|Because You'll Never Meet Me|Leah Thomas|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1411406164s/20649195.jpg|39943251] when they have exchanged letters (penpals). This books are complete package for a reader who seeking family matters, friendship and gay issues.
However, the ending is way a bit happy ending for me and a little bit too good to be true. everything is in the book is going very smoothly. since in the reality there are many gay people still fight for being opened to the public. I also haven't found any plot twist that makes my heart is broken. Maybe it is just about my taste since i'm an Unhappy Ending hard-line lover (Garis keras pecinta cerita Not Happy ending. :D

I feel like one of the last people to read this book! It came out in 2015 and the movie adaptation came out this year. I don’t know why it took me so long to get around to reading this, because it was so good!
This was such a fun, charming book. I loved Simon. He had such a great voice, and he was funny and intelligent. He was also a typical teenager, dealing with self-discovery, family drama, and friend drama, which was super relatable. On top of that, he was being blackmailed by someone at school who has read Simon’s emails and knows he’s gay.
There’s a little mystery to the story too, because Blue, the boy Simon is emailing with (the emails that are discovered by the classmate who blackmails him), is someone who goes to his school but they are keeping their identities a secret from each other. I was trying to guess who Blue really was throughout the book. Their emails are flirtatious and then as they start to open up more to each other and write honestly about things they are both going through, they started to really fall for each other.
I was really excited to learn that Becky Albertalli has written another story set in this world, about Simon’s friend Leah. It’s called Leah on the Offbeat and comes out this month, and I can’t wait to read it!

Such a super cute book with super cute characters. I spent the entire time trying to guess who Blue was. It was such a hoot!
