It was fine. Took me a while to get into it but I enjoyed it by the end. I would read the sequel if my library had them but I didn’t like it enough to buy the next book myself.

An Ember in the Ashes is a pretty good book. We love the love triangles but have a little hate on Keenan's love for Laia. When I was reading the book I literally annotated most things in caps. It made me happy, angry , engaged, etc.
My favorite quote is “You are an ember in the ashes, Elias Veturius. You will spark and burn, ravage and destroy. You cannot change it. You cannot stop it.”
It truly represents what the book is about. I was literally in a reading slump while reading this but all of the annotations in the book made me realize that I was really enjoying this book.
